SAM Collins has been told he can leave Bury if another club makes an offer.

The central defender, once rated highly at Gigg, has fallen victim to the club's enfored cost-cutting policy, though his displays of late will hardly have helped him.

He was dropped after a series of mediocre performances but did break back into the team on Saturday when the Shakers won a well-earned point at Reading.

In an early-season clear out - forced upon chairman Terry Robinson because of the delays surrounding the proposed takeover of the club - midfielder Darren Bullock has also been told he can go.

Another midfielder Matt Murphy - who only joined Bury two months ago from Oxford - is on trial at Rushden and Diamonds, where he featured in a reserve game. Bury have made it clear they will not stand in his way if the Third Division outfit decide to offer the player a contract.

To complete the clear out, youngsters George Clegg and Steve Halford will be released at the end of their existing short-term contracts.

Meanwhile, Rugby League side Warrington Wolves have donated a Wolves Leisure shirt signed by Ex-World Boxing Champion Chris Eubank to be used for fundraising via an Internet Auction.

Wolves Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe met Bury chairman Robinson at a recent charity dinner hosted by Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

The event, which also raised a substantial cheque for the Shakers, prompted him to make this much-appreciated gesture.

Robinson said: "It is a tremendous gesture and shows the solidarity between clubs of all codes who realise the difficulties in keeping first class professional sport going in their respective towns.
