INVESTIGATIONS are taking place after the driver of a stolen vehicle suffered serious injuries following a high speed police chase across the district on Saturday night.
The 24-year-old, who has not been named, has a broken hip, pelvis and leg plus internal injuries, following the incident on Lancaster Road close to Morecambe FC's Christie Park ground.
Officers ordered the driver to pull over on Caton Road but he sped off into Lancaster, across Greyhound Bridge and towards Morecambe.
Initial police reports said the stolen car collided with a tree but a woman who was also in the car and who has not been charged claims there was a collision with a police vehicle.
Enquiries are ongoing.
