THE vast majority of the fans at Ewood Park will be roaring England Under-21s on tonight against Greece.

But, without being unpatriotic, there will be a small knot of support for Burnley's Dimitri Papadopoulos, led by Clarets boss Stan Ternent.

"I'll be going down there hoping to see Dimitri do well," he said.

"Most of the lads are going down as well and I think that tells you a lot about the spirit in the club.

"Dimitri has not been here very long but he is a popular lad and the boys want to see him in action. They are not just a team on the pitch, they are a team off it.

"We will all want England to win but ideally it will be 5-3 with Dimitri getting a hat-trick."

It was in the reverse fixture last summer that the young striker first came to the attention of Ternent, scoring the opening goal in Greece's 3-1 victory.

"We had heard a bit about him and went across to see him in action," he said.

"They have a lot of good players over there and some very big clubs like Panathanaikos and Olympiakos."

It has been a frustrating time for Ternent since Papadopoulos arrived because he has spent several weeks away on international duty.

He has scored one goal for the reserves but has just had one run out for the first team, in the disappointing Worthington Cup defeat by Rushden and Diamonds.

"I knew this was going to happen when I signed him," he said.

"He has been playing in Under-21 matches and was also called-up for the Meditteranean Games which were held in Tunisia last month.

"But he was a long term signing and I think he will do well for the club. He has started to learn the language and that will help him in the future.

"I think his signing shows how far we have come as a club, we are now looking at players who are internationals."
