A BLACKPOOL fire boss put the finishing touches to a career of saving Fylde lives on Friday.
Assistant divisional officer Dave Waywell, formerly station commander of Blackpool's Forest Gate station, attended the Blackpool Tower fire on September 28 with just six hours to go before retirement!
He told the Citizen: "This will be my last job. I've been with the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for 30 years and Blackpool Tower is the perfect way to finish. And the staff carried out an extremely good evacuation."
