A MOTHER of three who was badly injured in a road accident last week remains seriously ill in hospital.
Due to a bed shortage, Mrs Elizabeth Solarczyk is still awaiting transfer to a specialist hospital for treatment. She fractured her spinal column just below the neck when her Toyota Carina was in collision with a refuse truck on Wednesday morning (Oct 4).
The accident happened close to Bury Ambulance Station at the junction of Hornby Street and Birch Street.
Mrs Solarczyk's husband, Stan, was following in a second car when the horror crash happened. Firefighters cut off the roof of the Toyota to free Mrs Solarczyk (53), of Long Lane, Limefield. Paramedics placed her on a spinal board and took her to Fairfield General Hospital.
The driver of the bin wagon, Mr Peter Jepson (53), from Rostrons Road, Ramsbottom, suffered minor cuts and bruising.
