PARENTS eager for a some time to themselves can take advantage of a new project being organised by Bury Family Centre.

The centre is inviting mums and dads living in Redvales and East Bury to make their lives a little more flexible by babysitting for each other.

Open days are being held this week at the Mosses Centre, Cecil Street to promote the project, organised with help from Bury College, the Redvales Surestart project and the East Bury Initiative.

The aim is to develop a circle of parents who will earn and trade credits for babysitting time.

Parent first undergo a training programme at the Mosses Centre, where they will have the chance to meet other parents. A free creche will run alongside the sessions.

Project manager Wendy Buckland said: "People will babysit for a certain number of hours and then get tokens to use elsewhere in the babysitting group.

"You wouldn't want you children to go to someone who couldn't look after them, that is the idea of the training sessions.

"Parents will all be on the course together and so will all get to know each other."

To find out more parents should come to the Mosses Centre on any weekday morning this week between 9.45 and 11.30 and ask for Katrina or Debra, or telephone 764 4811.
