IMAGINE a huge celebration with leading lights from a golden era of music and then being able to join in the festivities, and you have the spectacular show that is A Tribute to Motown.
With a cast of magnificent soundalikes, the sound of the Sixties had the Arena dancing the night away.
'Your love is liftin' me higher' sang Jackie Wilson who reminded us of early songs of Berry Gordy, the originator of the black independent record company which influenced the sound of the Sixties.
You couldn't tell The Supremes' 'Baby Love' and 'Stop, in the name of love,' from the originals, and when Diana Ross began her solo spot, reaching out and touching as many hands as possible, she both looked and sounded exactly like the pop diva herself.
Top of the bill were The Temptations with many memorable numbers like 'Just My Imagination', but best for me were The Four Tops who had the audience jumping up to dance.
There were dazzling performances from the singers and the sensational Mike James' seven-piece orchestra, and the quality of sound was exceptional.
On the ice show's day off, the 2,500 capacity Arena was a bit ambitious even for this great show, but the audience of hundreds was clearly enthralled.
