Boro now have a slight psychological edge over the second in the table outfit with an emphatic win in a thriller of a game.
Simon Kelly opened the scoring on 28 minutes from Richard Landon's nod down having earlier rattled an upright.
Rossendale substitute Steve Cunningham hit back on 59 only for Kelly to score again on 73 minutes when set up by good work from Ian Lunt. Boro top marksman Jody Banim came off the subs bench to kill the game off with the third goal on 75 minutes, his 12th of the season.
