THE decision of the Australian Rugby League to cancel the forthcoming Ashes tour of Great Britain because of fears over terrorism was a disappointment to Reebok officials.

The first Test had been scheduled for November 3 in Huddersfield with the second at the Reebok on Saturday, Nov 17. Reacting to this morning's announcement, Wanderers commercial director, Gareth Moores, said: "To some extent it was expected.

"It is obviously very frustrating because everything was in place. We are disappointed to lose the Test match. It would have been a great event and would have brought in good revenue for the club but we understand the decision that has been taken."

Australia team manager Darrell Bampton canvassed the feelings of the 24-man squad and coaching staff yesterday and presented his findings to the ARL board today.
