BEING without a first team game for almost two weeks gives us a chance to reflect on the season so far.

We got off to a very bad start at Gillingham and then followed that with three draws on the bounce.

Things got even worse when Jon Macken asked for a move prior to us being beaten by Wolves in a comedy of errors at Deepdale.

Since then though things have improved greatly -- three wins, one draw and one defeat from the next five games bringing confidence flooding back.

The only defeat being away at West Brom where North End put up a creditable performance against one of the better sides in the division at the moment.

This was followed by a win at Birmingham which we thought at the time was the best performance so far.

But what about the Norwich game! Absolutely brilliant!

It doesn't get much better than that first 45 minutes what ever division you are in.

A draw away at Watford, once again on a Sunday night, then brought us to that ten game total -- the one that managers always tell us is the time that league tables really get sorted for the first time in a new season.

PNE are in mid-table and climbing. On current form we're up there with the best -- it looks like we're up and running with another good season is on its way.

Now let's hope Jonny Macken decides to stay.
