THORNTON Ecology Centre struck up the band to celebrate the centre's 10th Anniversary recently.
Stanah School Band, conducted by the school's musical director Terry Roberts, entertained members of the public, parents, family and Ecology staff with a repertoire of tunes including Mambo No.5, Rock Goes The Weasel, Yakety Sax and many more.
On September 27 the Stanah Concert Band -- comprising parents, family and friends of Stanah School -- presented the children with approximately £700 worth of new "space age" style music stands (see picture, right) to complement or replace ageing equipment.
Stanah Concert Band rehearses at Stanah School, Lambs Road, Thornton, every Friday during term time, between 4.30pm and 6.00p.m.and would welcome anyone interested in joining them.
