SOMETIMES it's hard to see the benefits of exercise, but a new campaign launched by Burnley's leisure centres is about to change all that.

A 'Dedication and Reward' promotion is being run, which will give prizes to loyal customers and play a part in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Staff at the Thompson Centre, in Red Lion Street, have teamed up with the Gannow Pool, in Sycamore Avenue and the Padiham Leisure Centre, in Park Road, to encourage people to kick start their New Year's resolutions.

By rewarding their best customers between now and Christmas, staff hope that next year's resolutions may last longer than usual.

Three winners will share the prizes of his or her mountain bikes and a 12-month leisure pass.

To win, all customers have to do is collect a 'reward card' from the reception of any of the centres.

Every time a visit is made the cards will be stamped. When the card is full (six stamps) they can enter the card into the prize draw box.

There is no limit to the number of cards a person can submit -- so the harder they work out, the more chance they have of winning.

All the completed cards will then be entered into a draw which will take place on Friday, December 21. Customers must have an 'Ace Card' to be entered into the draw. An application form for these and details of the competitions are available from the receptions of any of the centres.

Programme and events manager at the Thompson Centre Stewart Ingham, said: "The scheme is looking ahead to fitness in the New Year.

"If you have a mountain bike or a 12-months pass for a sports centre, or pool, that can help to kick-start a new fitness programme."
