I WAS driving home on Sunday morning when I was held up by a parade of uniformed organisations, marching from school to church.

They were carrying Christmas-wrapped shoe boxes, obviously full of gifts for the less-fortunate children of the Third World countries.

It was lovely to see that these traditions have not yet gone by the board, and that some children still enjoy the life with the Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies, instead of in their rooms with a computer.
