CHILDRENS' hospices in Chorley and Manchester benefited to the tune of £20,000 from a charity event staged at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel.
The event was the third organised by Leo Flood, owner of Leo's Carpets in Blackburn, and was by far the most successful yet.
Cheques for £10,000 were presented to Ian Minto of Derian House and Susan Mahis, of Francis House, Manchester.
Guest speaker was Glennis Aston whose son Tom died in Derian House aged 19. Glennis told the audience of a day in Tom's life and the pleasure and comfort he had got from the Hospice.
The first event organised by Mr Flood raised £4,000, last year's raised £9,000 but this year's event exceeded all expectations.
"We had the support of many local companies, organisations and individuals and were delighted with the total raised," said Leo. "Building a hospice is only the start, they need funds to keep going, and everyone involved is delighted that we have been so successful this year."
