POTENTIAL Clarets target Olav Rastad is likely to be for sale if the first division leaders were to pursue their interest.

Sources in Norway confirmed today that the captain of Norway's Under-21 team had turned down the chance to come to Turf Moor on trial this week.

But with the 22-year-old midfielder unable to hold down a regular first team slot in the Tromso IL side, he may be available to interested bidders as the club is trying to reduce its playing staff.

Rastad moved to Tromso three years ago having started his career with second division side Harstad.

He was considered quite a talent when he made the move but has struggled to make the expected impact in Norway's top division. However his skills have been recognised at international level and he has been skippering the Under-21 side for the past year.

Rastad is a strong central midfielder who has been used to playing in a 4-3-3 formation.

Norwegian players have a good record of settling in well in English football with Norwegians like Gunnar Halle, Eirik Bakke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Tore Andre Flo all adapting enjoying success.
