BACUP boss Brent Peters is hoping to boost his strikeforce after putting seven days on Stand's striker Micky Batholomew.

The well-travelled frontman, who lists Colne Dynamoes, Buxton, Lancaster, Curzon Ashton, Chadderton and more as his former clubs, is the NWCL Division Two leaders second top scorer with nine goals this campaign.

But the Bacup manager is hoping he will add another club to his CV and join the West View set up. Peters can speak to him next Tuesday.

And the Bacup manager has also got his eye on adding a former league player to his squad after asking permission to speak to a left wing back.

"We will see what happens with both of them but they will be good additions to the squad," said the boss.

Transfers aside, Peters' full focus will be tomorrow's derby clash at Nelson.

The two sides have already met this season and drew 1-1 - with a draw looking another safe bet with their respective records. Bacup are the draw specialists with seven so far in the league this season while Nelson have five one-pointers this term.

"We are drawing far too many," admitted the Bacup boss. "And that is frustrating. We need to turn these into wins but we are not far off."

He comes up against a Nelson side who have slipped down the table but have been bouyed by two good shows in the FA Vase against Clitheroe and a win in the league last time out.

Nelson narrowly missed out on promotion last season but lost four regular players earlier on this season.

"I wanted Nelson to go up last season," said Peters. "And despite what has happened I still think they will be there or thereabouts at the beginning of May."

Nelson boss John Bailey thinks likewise of tomorrow's opponents: "They have made one or two good signings since the last time we played them and if they can get a bit more consistency they could possibly be there in the shake up.

"But for us in our last eight league games, we have drawn six, won one and lost one but we have three home games now and we need to start getting the three points."

Bacup's Peters is anticipating an entertaining tie. "They have had a few problems but there is one thing for sure Nelson and Bacup games always produce something," he said. "And there is a bit of spice in that one of my former players Scott Gilchrist will be returning with Nelson." Bacup have doubts over Karl Stanley (hamstring), Nicky Taylor is still out (hand injury) while Stuart Farnell is struggling with a recurrence of an ankle injury.
