ROVERS boss Graeme Souness was delighted with Saturday's result in the capital -- even though he felt his side were denied a clear penalty.

Television replays showed Graeme Le Saux clearly handled in the box as Matt Jansen prepared to shoot.

But the offence went unpunished by referee Graham Poll.

"We should have had a stonewall penalty," rapped Souness.

"Graeme Le Saux clearly handled and the TV replays proved that.

"But I think overall we have to be happy with a point.

"Although Chelsea have drawn a lot of games, their team is still full of quality and it's only a matter of time before they start to win matches.

"On their day, they are capable of beating anyone because they have some top international players.

"So we weren't going to come here and make life easy for them -- I'm not paid for that."

Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri and his players were booed off the pitch at the final whistle as frustrated Blues fans vented their anger in the wake of their side's eighth draw in 13 games.

However, Souness later offered the Italian some words of comfort and insisted he needs to be given time to get things right.

"He's inherited a very difficult job because the expectations are enormous.

"But I'm sure through his experiences with clubs like Valencia, he will deal with it in his own way.

"At the end of the day, I'm a professional and Mr Ranieri's a professional so I don't enjoy watching anyone get booed.

"We're all professionals and if it happens to you, you accept it. But it's not something anyone would enjoy."
