A 26-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man confessed to a series of offences because he wanted to make a fresh start.

Blackburn magistrates heard police were not even aware of some of the offences which were all committed in the Intack area of Blackburn.

Jason Row, of Leicester Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft of a mobile phone from S and W Wood Products of Carluke Street, and burglary and theft of a mobile phone from Wardle Storey, Hereford Road.

He asked for eight other offences, seven of them committed in the first two weeks of November, to be taken into consideration.

The magistrates ordered the preparation of pre sentence reports and the case was adjourned until December 19. Row was remanded on bail.

Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said the two charged offences involved thefts from works premises. The offences to be taken into consideration were made up of two further burglaries at commercial premises and six thefts from cars.

Elliott Taylforth, defending, said the offences were committed to fund Row's drug addiction, but he had recently been in touch with the community drugs team to enlist their help.

"The drug addiction is no more," said Mr Taylforth.

"He has been diagnosed as suffering from deep vein thrombosis and someone injecting themselves with drugs when suffering from that ailment puts themselves at enormous risk."
