I WOULD like to thank all the people whose subscriptions helped to get in print the publication of 'Happy Valley No More,' the history of the Hapton Valley Colliery.

All the proceeds are going direct to the Hapton Valley Colliery Disaster Fund to help to preserve the annual memorial services commemorating this terrible pit disaster.

I would also like to thank Michael and Hillary Emsley, of the General Havelock, Ann and Frank Fleming of the Angel Inn, and the committees of Rosegrove Unity and Plumbe Street Miners' Clubs for permission to sell the books over the bar. The latter two are also putting on some charity entertainment nights in the near future in aid of the Hapton Valley fund.

The housebound and anyone having difficulty in obtaining the book can order signed copies direct from myself. The price is £6.50, plus 50p for postage and packaging. Cheques should be made payable to the Hapton Valley Colliery Disaster Fund.

The book can also be obtained from Burnley Reference Library and through my web pages on local coal mining at www.jnadin1.50megs.com/.

Sales of the book are going extremely well, as Burnley folk have once again excelled themselves.
