A RECENT growth in girls' football in Pendle has led to Pendle Leisure Trust setting up a group to promote and co-ordinate the sport.
Members help with funding, training and coaching the girls as well as finding local teams for them in the area.
Teams from clubs like Brierfield Celtic, Salterforth, Barnoldswick Barons and Colne Clarets all now field girls' teams from ages 10 through to 14 in various league such as the North Valley Friendly League.
The Trust is now seeking volunteers to help run a small committee and to help out in local schools as part of their five year active sports programme.
Anyone interested in getting involved with girls football should go along to the group's next meeting on Tuesday at 7pm at the Lesser Municipal Hall, in Colne.
Suzanne Hodgson, of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: "If you think girls can be as good or better at this up to now male-dominated sport then come along and see what's on offer."
