PUPILS at a Leigh school will invite their teachers to come out and play every day in future.

Playtime will now mean something much more at Newton Westpark Junior and Infants' School thanks to a revolutionary initiative.

The Leigh Education Action Zone school has devised social activity time -- 15 minutes of afternoon games when children play alongside their teachers.

They will take part in games, from skipping to bouncing balls.

Headteacher Lynn Carroll said: "We expect all our teachers wil be very fit by Christmas!

"It gives the children structured physical play activities and helps them to develop a knowledge of a variety of enjoyable games.

"There is also the chance to interact with peers and adults outside the classroom."
