ENGLAND today cruised to the first victory of their Indian tour with a four-wicket triumph over India A in Jaipur.

On the third and final day England reached their victory target of 173 with a fine all-round team effort.

Three wickets apiece from Craig White and Andy Flintoff saw the hosts, with Reetinder Sodhi injured, end their second innings on 109-9.

In reply the tourists were initially rocked when Dodda Ganesh dismissed Mark Butcher for just four.

But England skipper Nasser Hussain steadied the ship and put on 46 with Marcus Trescothick before the Somerset man was out for 30.

Mark Ramprakash hit 22 before being bowled by spinner Sunil Joshi.

Flintoff came in to partner Hussain and smashed a vital 40 while his skipper eventually made 59 with six fours and one six to his name.

White made only three as England crossed the finish line with Ashley Giles hitting the winning runs.
