POLICE are appealing for information after a gang fled empty-handed after trying to rob a security guard and a post office.
They threatened the driver of a security van and demanded cash after it pulled up outside Tyldesley post office in Johnson Street at about 11.45am on Tuesday.
The robbers ran inside the shop and tried to smash the glass surrounding the counter. They left without any money and escaped in a dark Volkswagen Golf GTI.
