EWOOD enforcer Garry Flitcroft today confessed he is 'touch and go' for Sunday's Premiership showdown with Leeds United.

Graeme Souness's influential skipper is desperate to return to the Ewood engine room for the visit of David O'Leary's title-chasers.

But the tough-tackling midfielder has admitted time is running out in his bid to prove his fitness following a two-week lay-off with a groin tear.

"I'm absolutely desperate to play in this one but I've got to make sure it's spot on," said Flitcroft.

"If I tear it again then I could be facing another four weeks on the sidelines so the medical staff are understandably being cautious.

"I haven't trained since last Thursday and I've got to admit I'm still feeling a few twinges.

"But I'm hoping to train on Friday and Saturday and if I get through that then I could have a chance of returning."

Flitcroft's presence in midfield was sorely missed as Rovers crashed 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough last Saturday.

And, with Leeds currently flying high near the summit of the Premiership, a fit-again Flitcroft would come as a massive boost to manager Graeme Souness's plans.
