TWO goals in 10 minutes added to Robbie Talbot's growing reputation and gave Morecambe their first double of the season at Nuneaton Borough on Saturday.

The home side, dismissed 1-0 in the season's opening game, took the lead on 36 minutes when Craig Mawson couldn't keep hold of David Crowley pass, allowing Lee Charles to slot the ball home.

It was cruel luck for the Shrimps, but things were looking up on 63 minutes when the ever impressive Garry Thompson struck a well deserved equaliser.

The pacey forward was put through by Ian Arnold, who had also hit the post himself, and made no mistake to level the scores.

However, Morecambe's joy was shortlived as their hosts were back in front within a minute when Paul McGregor made no mistake from a corner.

That looked like being game over until a significantly reshaped Morecambe side grabbed two goals out of nowhere to seal the three points on 82 minutes and in the dying seconds.

The result takes Morecambe to ninth place in the table, and, if they win their games in hand, they could go ahead of clubs like Yeovil and Margate to claim fourth spot in the table -- an amazing turnaround after a tough spell in the run up to last month's FA cup clash with Brentford. Since that game, we have seen a different version of Morecambe FC which, hopefully, will allow them to enjoy an overdue successful run. Morecambe have been drawn against Kings Lynn in the first round of the FA Umbro Trophy, with the game to be played at Christie Park on January 12.
