THE Trawden 7 mile Road and Trail Race has been won by a Trawden resident for the first time in its 19 year history.

Clayton Harrier Dave Walker covered the distance in 41:12 to give him a margin of 48 seconds over Rossendale Harrier Thornton who took the veteran title.

With Taylor now an over 45, third placed Paul Brannon won the M40 title for Clayton, while the winning M50 was Ken Taylor, Thornton's big brother.

Ladies winner Kath Drake expunged Jean Rawlinson's 1994 over 40's time from the record books, but Jean herself knocked two minutes off the F50's record as she finished third lady. Chorley event CHORLEY Athletic Club are holding their Annual Presentation Night on Saturday January 5 at St Peters Club, Eaves Lane, Chorley.

The evening will also include the presentation of prizes for the 2001 'On the Run' Park Series. Roger's the guy ROGER Brewster added another M45 title to his collection at the Guys 10M Road Race at Garstang.

The Clayton Harrier finished fourth in 55:06 leading home three team mates. Mark Theaker, Andrew Taylor and Paul Targett were fifth, sixth and seventh with former Harrier John Wieczorek eighth while Ted Orrell was the winning over 60.

The first five ladies were covered by little more than a minute with Darwen Dasher Linda Clarkson second only five seconds behind Lesley Fisher of Burnden Road Runners.

Chorley Harrier Jeannette Coleman was fourth and Leigh Hargreaves in sixth was 1st F35 for Accrington Road Runners. Brian's top man LONG serving Brian Scully is the new President of Accrington Road Runners after being elected at the recent Annual General Meeting. Park on a high SIX Park High School athletes have qualified for the Lancashire Schools Cross Country Championships via the Pendle Schools Championships at Alkincoats Park in Colne.

Philip Berry won the first year boys race while Rachel Ingham, Carla Burns and Amy Ellis were second, fourth and fifth in the junior girls event.

The school scored a 1-2 in the intermediate girls race with Charlotte Bickerstaffe taking the Championship ahead of Anne Smith. Third was Nikala Smith who runs for Pendle AC. Lancaster date THE final Mid Lancs Cross Country fixture at Lancaster University has been put back by a month to Saturday March 2. This is to avoid a clash with the Lancashire Schools Championship which is at Witton Park, Blackburn on Saturday February 2nd.
