A SERIES of teatime burglaries on bungalows in St Annes this week has prompted police to remind householders to take extra security measures as the dark nights draw in.

"Now the dark evenings have arrived and it's dark by 4.15pm, it's easy for a burglar to spot an unoccupied house while people are still at work," said PC Brian Doyle of the Crime Management Unit at Blackpool police.

He said that householders could make provision to make the house look occupied. Some suggestions were using lights on a timer and automatic lighting.
