BURY boss Andy Preece will this weekend make a decision on whether to offer striker Abdou Tangara a contract, writes PHIL THORP.

Tangara, Mali born but a French citizen, has been on trial at Gigg Lane for three weeks and has been put through his paces in the reserves.

The strapping six-footer spent six years at Paris St Germain, but found first team opportunities difficult to come by although he made the substitute bench on two occasions.

An badly cut arm, sustained when thieves broke into his hotel room, disrupted his time at Gigg but he did well in a friendly against Oldham on Wednesday.

He is due to turn out against a Barnsley XI in a behind closed doors match this morning (Friday) and Preece will decide early next week whether to keep him on.

"It's an awkward one really because of the injury he picked up when his room was broken into," said Preece.

"That has delayed things though I think we will make a definite decision in the next couple of days, probably by Monday or Tuesday.

"He did alright in the practice match we had at Oldham on Wednesday when he came on as a substitute.

"Whether he'll be good enough to get into the team is another matter. But with his sheer size and power he is the sort of player who would be great coming off the bench for the last 20-25 minutes.

"We'll have to weigh it up a little bit more and make our decision one way or another early next week."
