BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness today urged his side to go out and show their Premiership mettle as they face a hat-trick of tough fixtures over the next 10 days.

Rovers kick off a testing triple header against Leeds United at Ewood on Sunday.

Then they face Arsenal in the Worthington Cup 48 hours later, followed by a testing trip to in-form Newcastle tomorrow week.

"It's a daunting week for us but that's what we are in the Premiership for," said Souness.

"Sunday's game against Leeds is another very exciting-looking game for our supporters to enjoy and how we fare in that could determine how the week goes.

"We face three big games back-to-back but that's what being in the big-time is all about.

"We worked hard to get out of the First Division in order to be able to play in games like this.

"And now we are playing in them, it's an exciting time for everyone connected with the club.

"Teams don't come much bigger than Leeds United, Arsenal and Newcastle so I just hope we can do ourselves justice."

Souness hopes to have a fully fit squad to pick from against David O'Leary's title-chasers on Sunday.

Influential skipper Garry Flitcroft was due to train today for the first time in a week after tearing his groin.

And Souness has confirmed that, barring any late set-back, the former Manchester City star will definitely be in the squad.

"We'll have another look at Flitty today but without wanting to give too much away he will be in the squad for Sunday."

Craig Hignett will also be available despite missing a couple of days' training with a tendon injury this week.

And Ciccio Grabbi could be ready to start up front following an impressive cameo appearance against Middlesbrough last week.

Souness is anticipating a tough test, though, against a Leeds side in with a real chance of the title.

"Leeds are a young, exciting team and they'll be a tough nut for us crack," said Souness.

"I know people say they've got a lot of young players but they are young players with plenty of experience, which is a formidable combination."
