AS regular theatre goers and Friends of the Grand Theatre, we cannot believe the review of Rent by Sarah Sharp.

We attended the performance on Friday Nov 23 and felt impelled to walk out after 45 minutes of dreary tuneless songs and drab sets.

The cast were talented both with voice and acting, but the musical itself was banal, without a storyline and thoroughly boring.

Theatre staff told us that up to a third of audiences each night had disappeared at the interval.

Your newspaper is normally to be trusted, but I will be inclined not to rely on future theatre reviews.

It certainly didn't represent a "sensational slice of real life" in my experience of "real living"!
