FORGET Harry Potter and magic -- there is a Rossendale business this Rossendale business is the place where dreams really do come true.

Already Sonia Ramsay's coaching skills have helped to secure a recording contract for would-be Pop Idol Sarah Whatmore.

Although the Worsley lass didn't make it through the TV programme, she was snapped up by nasty judge Simon Cowell, who gave her a recording contract.

Sonia, a former Gospel singer, who runs her own business, Creative Industries, from Toll Bar Business Unit, Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, aims to provide hopefuls with a gateway into the entertainment industry.

And she has also already celebrated two Number Ones, because her prodigy, Simon Webb, is a member of Blue, who hit the top spot this year with All Rise and Too Close.

The former tutor at Salford College started the business a year ago after coaching singers free of charge and she moved into her unit about four months ago, with Alison Selby as her right-hand woman!

Sonia, 33, said: "I am not a trained singer, so I am not teaching people what I have been taught, I am teaching them what I know.

"When you teach people you have to give them time to find themselves. I know all the theoretical principles of singing and was head of performing arts at Salford and specialist vocal trainer."

One of her 'rising stars' is talented musician, singer and composer Ryan Burnett, 16, from Stockport.

Ryan attends coaching sessions at Sonia's studio every week and she is hoping to be able to secure a recording contract for him next year.

Ryan, whose voice is reminiscent of Bryan Adams, said: "I have been singing for about six years and playing guitar since I was seven.

"I have written songs for three albums and I prefer to write and perform my own music rather that cover other people's songs.

"I am determined to make it big."

Sonia said: "Ryan has a good, mature voice, but he needs to learn to play that instrument as well as he plays that guitar.

"I am going to give him the confidence to use his voice and improve his stage performance."

Part-time receptionist Lareena Edwards, 22, is now performing solo gigs in Manchester and 90 Per Cent Angels are jetting off to Los Angeles to work with Howard Keel and Johnny Mathis.

Other successes to come out of the business include Katrina Davi from Halifax, who won Star's in Their Eyes as Tina Arena.

Sonia also runs performance workshops for up to six children on a Saturday on an appointment basis.

The youngest is eight.

She added: "I know I can train anybody to sing and I can give them stage presence!" FORGET Harry Potter and magic -- there is a Rossendale business where dreams really do come true.
