GREAT Harwood enjoyed better fortune in their Division One NWC League clash with Warrington ending a 16-game run without a win.

Heartened by their midweek cup exploits, when they drew 3-3 with high-flying Kidsgrove Athletic, manager Denis Underwood was hoping that his side could continue their improved form and got just what he demanded.

After a tight and goalless first half Great Harwood broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half when young striker Simon Garner put them ahead.

And by the 67th minute they were two goals in front when Andy Proctor added to their tally.

Warrington pushed to get back into the contest but their reply from Chris Moores in the final minute proved to be too little too late as Great Harwood collected three welcome league points.

HARWOOD may be just slightly worried about tomorrow night's Worthington Challenge Trophy quarter-final replay at Kidsgrove. The Staffordshire side won 13-0 against Flixton on Saturday!

THE first division clash between Clitheroe and Curzon Ashton was postponed on Saturday.
