WALKING in Clayton Street, Blackburn, I was appalled by the amount of litter in the grounds of the bail hostel.

Instead of the usual loafing around the town centre, which many of the inmates of this establishment do, would it not be a good idea to put them to work to earn their keep?

Surely, it would be better for idle hands to be put to use in the hostel gardens -- after all, it is probably their mess anyhow.
