THE battle in the middle will be the last factor to be decided for tonight's Millmoor showdown.

Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore waits on Kevin Watson while opposite number Stan Ternent gives a late fitness test to Tony Grant.

Both players hold key roles in centre field, but both were taken off during weekend action.

Clarets lynchpin Grant was withdrawn at half-time in the 1-1 draw at Barnsley due to a hamstring problem, while Watson was taken off with a foot injury in the Millers 3-2 home success over fellow strugglers Stockport County.

"We will give Tony as long as we can," said Ternent.

"We will just have to see how he goes when we work out as to whether he will be involved."

If Grant misses Ternent may have to reshuffle his line-up and newcomer Robbie Blake may make his first showing, though Alan Moore returning on the left side and Paul Weller taking a central role after his strong showing at Oakwell could provide instant balance.

Rotherham boss Moore will probably opt for Stewart Talbot as a straight switch for Watson or he could call on Nick Daws - the former Bury player who had been linked with a move to Turf Moor numerous times.

The Millers are expected to still be without ex-Sheffield United defender Rob Scott who missed the clash with Stockport due to a knee injury.

Ternent has been full of praise for what Moore has achieved at Millmoor.

"They are all going to be tough games and Rotherham will be scrapping for their lives.

"They have had two great years already with consecutive promotions and if they stay up it will be a fantastic achievement for them."
