ORGANISERS across Lancashire are being encouraged to help their employees 'get on their bike'.

Bike Aid, part of Lancashire County Council's campaign to promote and fund greener travel, is making cash available for the second year running.

Over 50 schools, businesses, hospitals and libraries in Lancashire have already taken advantage of the scheme.

The hope is that more workers will be using pedal power in 2002 with the help of the council.

More than 200 cycle racks have been fitted throughout the county at various sites.

County Coun Nora Ward, cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: "People regularly tell us that they would be more likely to choose other forms of transport to get to work if the back-up facilities were available.

"This is a great way for businesses and schools to work together with the county council to achieve a greener Lancashire."
