POLICE are hunting a bogus official who robbed an 85-year-old deaf and blind woman in her home in Aspull yesterday.

A man claiming to be from the water board knocked on the door of the house

and introduced himself to the disabled woman.

He entered the house and stated that the water valves in the property

needed to be checked. He then proceeded to steal a quantity of cash.

No description of the offender is available.

A Greater Manchester Police Spokesperson said: "Unfortunately there are still a number of people who are willing to deceive others in this way in order to make a profit and it usually the

elderly who are targeted.

"We would like to remind people that you should not let strangers into your

house without identification. If you are unsure of an individual's identity

you should confirm it by contacting the organisation they represent."

Anyone who may have any information about this incident is asked to contact

Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
