THE sale of striker Stern John, skipper Chris Bart-Williams and teenage star Jermaine Jenas has left Forest fans wondering how long they can hold on to their other prize asset, midfielder David Prutton.

Prutton won his tenth England Under-21 cap alongside Jenas on Tuesday for his former Forest manager David Platt's side in the 1-0 win in Slovenia.

But tomorrow he is back in league action as he looks to impose himself in a midfield battle where he will come up against Burnley midfielder Paul Weller.

Prutton is one of a number of promising young players that have come through the ranks at the City Ground in recent years and along with £5million Jenas he has been rated as one of the best.

But while Prutton's breakthrough at Forest has been alongside other young players, Weller is a rare current example of home grown talent at Turf Moor.

He has featured in the last three games scoring the priceless late winner at Watford, starring against Barnsley and then taking on former team mate John Mullin at Rotherham.

Having had his problems with a hamstring injury, the games are coming thick and fast but he is clearly relishing his midfield role.

With financial problems still surrounding Forest it would not be a great surprise if Prutton had to be sold in the not too distant future and as a young international he will be hungry to test himself in the Premier League.

That is also Weller's dream but one he is confident he can achieve with his current club. Helping them to three points against Forest would be another step in the right direction.
