ROSSENDALE UNITED manager Jim McCluskie is hoping to see his side in action tomorrow - so he can have a look at some of his new players.

Postponements have meant that two new signings - John Stanhope and John Keegan - haven't had a chance of a run in the first team.

Stanhope has played just one game and Keegan, from Scarborough, has played in a reserve match but McCluskie is hoping to see more of them in tomorrow's UniBond First Division tie at home to Lincoln.

"There are still a couple of players I haven't had a good look at yet because we haven't had games.

"John Stanhope and John Keegan haven't had a run yet. I saw John Keegan in a reserve game on the astroturf and you could tell he was a good player.

"The weather has been a bit dryer this week so hopefully we'll get the game on.

"And if it is, we need to win, it's as simple as that. We have stuttered along in the last few games when I thought we had got a bit better."

Dale had a morale-boosting Boxing Day win at then-leaders Radcliffe Borough but haven't had a chance to build on that good result with games being called off because of the weather.

Since Boxing Day, they have lost 2-1 at Ossett Town, drawn 1-1 with Eastwood and drawn 0-0 with Belper, slipping out of the top five and therefore the play-off places.

"Eastwood have shown the way, winning a few games and going third," said McCluskie. "We have to start beating sides at home."

Chris Scott is out of tomorrow's match because he is still waiting to serve three matches of a four-match ban.

McCluksie said: "We went mad last year because Jerome Fitzgerald got a 35-day ban in the North West Counties. But if Chris had got 35 days it would be nearly over now."

ROSSENDALE forward Steve Cunningham has moved to First Division rivals Witton Albion.
