TONY Cunningham (Feb 1) wrote nothing short of complete twaddle! How can he claim that critics of ex-Bury FC chairman and chief executive Mr Robinson are ignorant and that the vast majority of Shakers followers thought highly of the man at the top?

I can only assume that he has carried out a poll in the members section of the social club where those who question the way the Shakers are run are usually not welcome! Perhaps he should try talking to supporters outside as he would then find that virtually everyone is glad to see the back of Mr Robinson. Tony Cunningham's jibe about those who criticise Mr Robinson "not knowing a balance sheet if it stood up and hit them" is also patronising and without any foundation. I, and many other Bury fans, are all too familiar with the club's accounts. Perhaps the fact that the club is more than £2 million in debt and that Mr Robinson paid himself £50,000 a year is also evidence that it will be better off without him.

Mr Cunningham also implied that the club's newly-developed stadium was down to some "masterstroke" by Mr Robinson. Virtually every football club has taken advantage of Football League grants and developed their grounds, most of them in a much better way than Gigg Lane.

From the tone of Mr Cunningham's letter, I suspect that he and his handful of friends are feeling bitter that the majority of fans are now going to get their way and that they fear impending change.

By the way, would this correspondent be the same Tony Cunningham who writes for the club's match-day programme and who frequently berates anyone with constructive criticism of his boss?
