GRAEME Souness is set to return to his old club Galatasaray in a bid to strengthen his squad.

According to his official website, versatile Turkish international Hakan Unsal is on his way to Blackburn for talks.

The 28-year-old Unsal worked with Rovers boss Souness when the Scot was in charge of Galatasaray, and the midfielder, who can also slot in at left-back, is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he would command a nominal fee now.

Unsal, who is expected to be in Turkey's World Cup squad alongside Rovers star Tugay, said: "There is a big possibility that I will wear the jersey of Blackburn.

"Galatasaray and Blackburn Rovers have agreed on my transfer. The deal was done between them. Now I will meet with Blackburn officials and I hope that I will play alongside Tugay."

Unsal stunned Galatasaray by handing in a transfer request just nine games into the season and has been a first team regular since he signed from Karabukspor in 1995.

But he revealed in October that he no longer had the desire to play in Turkey.

"During my time at Galatasaray I've won many championships, as well as the UEFA Cup and the Super Cup.

"Now the time has come for me to try my luck abroad.

"I wouldn't feel good about walking out on the club on a free transfer," he explained.

"I think the club should earn some money from me."
