STUART McCall tasted first division promotion glory with Bradford a couple of seasons ago and he believes Burnley can make it to the Premier League - but it will have to be via the play-offs.

"I don't think they will be up there with Man City, Wolves and West Brom but they can definitely stay in the top six," admitted the former Scotland international ahead of tonight's clash between the Bantams and the Clarets at Turf Moor.

"They have had one or two dodgy results recently and they will be looking to get back on the rails but they have as good a chance as any to make the play-offs.

"And everyone knows that once you get into the play-offs, anything can happen. There are a lot of teams that will fancy their chances if they can put a run together and Burnley are one of them."

When the two sides met at Valley Parade earlier in the season it was a five-goal thriller and McCall admitted: "We owe them for that one.

"That was the best game we have ben involved in this season but we lost it 3-2. We are ready to get revenge."

Glen Little struck twice that day when he was in top form and McCall said: "He gets a lot of attention and rightly so because he is a very good player, a real threat.

"But that is not the main thing that Burnley are about, the key to their success lies in their team work and organisation. That is the mark of a Stan Ternent team and that is what has made them successful in recent seasons.

"It is maybe a similar situation to the one we had when we went up, a case of everyone pulling in the right direction."

While Burnley have been top or close to top all season, it has been a struggle for Bradford on their return to the harsh realities of first division football after two seasons under the Premier League spotlight.

"It has been a shocking season," admitted McCall as they languish in the bottom half of the table. "With the players we have got it has been really, really poor.

"I think there are probably only two or three lads who can hold their hands up and say they have done well. We have now got lads here playing for new contracts and we still need three or four wins to be safe."

McCall's contract is also up in the summer and he is not sure if he will continue playing next season. "For the moment I just want to play as many games as possible and get us out of this predicament."

One manager Jim Jefferies has gone and he has been replaced by Nicky Law who enjoyed success at Chesterfield last season.

Bradford arrive at Turf Moor on the back of a 3-1 defeat at Wolves and McCall explained: "We are looking forward to putting that one right. "We held them for 75 minutes but they are a good team with good forward players and wide men.

"We defended well but then made a couple of mistakes.

"Even though we have struggled there is still a confidence and belief in the side. We think we can come to Burnley and go away with all three points."
