DARWEN LADIES' speedy striker Karen Boyle left Blackburn Rovers in her slip stream to book a place in the Lancashire League Cup final.

Boyle, a national standard sprinter, destroyed Rovers with her pace and power as she fired home four superb goals.

The England hopeful grabbed her first within five minutes when she latched on to a Laura Underdown header and race through to lift the ball over Horrocks -- after the keeper had brilliantly saved an earlier effort.

Rovers, who were caught cold, gradually got back in to the game and Sarah McCrea forced a near post save out of Amy Weaver.

Then the impressive Lucy Knowles and McCrea combined to release Samantha Pickup whose shot was tipped around the post by Amber King and then denied McCrea

Kathryn Forshaw came close to doubling Darwen's lead when she beat Horrocks only to see her shot cleared off the line.

But Boyle did make it 2-0 a minute later when Underdown's pass split Rovers flat back four and the striker finished with a low drive.

Rovers pulled one back when Knowles scored from the spot but any hopes of levelling the tie vanished soon after the restart when Brindle hammered the ball past Horrocks after a neat one-two with Levi Wensley.

Boyle then completed her hat-trick with a wonderful solo effort. Picking the ball up wide on the right on the halfway line, Boyle used her blistering turn of speed to go past Stacey Harkness and then left Horrocks rooted to the spot with an audacious chip just inside the area.

While Rovers were rocking they never let their heads drop and came close to pulling a goal back when Vicky Dean hit the outside of the post after good work by Pickup. Boyle then made it 5-1 when she latched on to Brindle's through ball and went around Horrocks to score.

While Darwen took their foot of the pedal, Rovers grew in strength and pulled a goal back when their two most dangerous players combined again.

Knowles floated in a free kick on the edge of the area which McCrea hammered home with a smart hooked volley.

Knowles then had a great run down the left flank and found Dean whose shot was well saved by Weaver.

With Rovers finishing strongly, the appeared to cut the gap even further when McCrea thumped home a superb shot from outside the area.

But the Darwen linesman somehow saw an offside incident and the goal was over-ruled.

A goal at that stage would have made for an interesting final five minutes as Rovers continued to pour forward -- McCrea forcing Weaver to tip over and Knowles forcing the keeper in to another good save.

But as it was, Darwen had done all the hard work and they now look forward to a cup final against either Manchester United or Hopwood Ladies.
