IN reply to F Thompson (Sport Letters, February 13), Graeme Souness will be remembered for more than relegating us and making us bankrupt.

We haven't been relegated yet. We still have a good chance of surviving. It's not all his fault -- he's not on the pitch; it's up to the players to perform.

Graeme will stay in all Rovers fans' hearts not only for getting us back into the Premiership but for taking us to our first major cup final in 42 years.

Eight million for Andy Cole is not a joke, a godsend, I say. Given a chance he will prove it and score lots more goals for us.

All the players Mr Thompson mentioned were all right last season when they got us back up, but now suddenly they are a waste of money.

They ran themselves into the ground and worked their socks off. Mr Thompson didn't mention any other players in the squad. Why single out a few for the blame? What about the rest?

I am a season ticket holder in the Blackburn End and have been for donkey's years and will be next season no matter what league we are in.

I'll always support all the lads. Fans are supposed to support their team through thick and thin. Why doesn't Mr Thompson try supporting them when they need it the most -- like now, not just when they're winning.

Yes, Uncle Jack must be turning in his grave, but not at Graeme and his beloved lads, but at so-called fans like him.

KELLY HEATON, West View, Blackburn.
