WHERE have all the old remedies gone? Thick black spanish was a must for colds. Hot water added to one or two pieces would truly stop a 'tickly' cough and kept one's bowels open.

Also, where are camphor blocks and camphorated oil?

A good rub with the oil eased anything. I remember as a child having a camphor block put in a bag and stitched to my liberty bodice.

For a bad chest a Thermagene felt with a sprinkle of vinegar on it was put to warm until it was fluffy, then stitched to a vest and placed on the back or chest.

It did the trick, but what a smell?
