IF YOUR correspondent Michael Jackson could spend more time getting his facts right and less time on personal attacks it might go some way to persuading your readers that he had some genuine concerns rather than just carrying on his vendetta against local politicians.

Cllr Henig does not represent the police on the Single Regeneration Board.

She was nominated by a community organisation.

At no time has she replaced a policeman as chairman of the board.

The chair is elected by the board, this year Mrs Henig was elected unopposed and congratulated by them on the work she had done.

As all the community groups are represented on the community forum which is part of the board she would only undertake consultation if she was doing that task as part of the board.

It is obvious from Mr Jackson's remarks that he does not know Mrs Henig or he would not make stupid statements about 'an academic living in an ivory tower' rather than the football fan, cricket supporter, quiz team member who is the 'real Ruth Henig.'

She need offer no apology for being a well-known historian and active local politician.

The people of Lancaster continue to elect her despite Mr Jackson's mischief making.

Perhaps it would be cynical to suggest that Mr Jackson is trying to continue his vendetta against the ex Labour leader Stanley Henig simply on the basis of 'the name's the same."
