SIX-year-old dance starlet Kirstin Haughton finished an amazing fourth in a regional competition against girls aged up to 16-years-old.

Kirstin Haughton, from Leigh, came first in the under eight years old group, which put her through to the final of the Slow Dance of the Year Competition, where she competed against six finalists from other age groups including the under 16s.

Kirstin is a pupil at St Thomas's Primary School and has been dancing at the Apple Dance Centre in Twist Lane, Leigh for almost three years.

Trudy, Kirstin's mum said: "She was very pleased to have done so well. She loves dancing and hopefully she will be able to make a future out of it."

Kirstin is now looking forward to next month's Pontins British Isles Championships.
