A CLUB doorman, accused of knocking a man out and then kicking him while he was down, has been cleared by a jury.

Brian Brady, aged 31, of Westleigh Lane, Leigh had denied kicking Alan McCormack while he lay on the ground outside a Tyldesley club. The doorman claimed he was protecting himself from McCormack who had demanded his money back after he was thrown out.

McCormack ended-up being knocked unconscious outside the Bar One Ten club in Tyldesley. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and severe bruising to his ribs and body. McCormack said Brady had assaulted him on the steps outside the club on December 22 last year after he asked for his money back.

Brady told police he was acting in self-defence because McCormack had attacked him. At Bolton Crown Court he categorically denied kicking and inflicting grievous bodily harm on McCormack.
