SADLY the latest phonejacking trend hit Leigh at the weekend.

A teenager suffered a knife attack by two braindead hoodlums because they wanted to relieve him of his designer Sony mobile phone and expensive grey Burberry jacket.

The duo struck as their victim walked along Platt Fold Road, Leigh, at 10.50pm on Friday. They used force to remove his coat, silver bracelet and phone, cutting his hand in the resulting tussle.

It comes to something when youngsters can't go out posing in their best gear without the fear of being robbed by jealous, selfish money seeking ne'er-do-wells -- in many cases to fund an out of control drugs habit.

It would be easy to say the best action would be to forget spending good money on costly labelled goods and put it to better use, but what's the point?

Only the wealthy could once afford such luxury or even recognise it. Now even the lowest of the low can recognise quality goods from counterfeit.

Teens all want to swank in the best they can. Haven't we all done it?

But for goodness sake one solution to halting this growing crime must be to keep those latest phones out of view of covetous eyes and deep in the pocket -- or handbag.
