DESPITE being defeated the Warriors probably played their best rugby all season. Charley Naylor scored three tries and three conversions and was Player of the Match.

Leyland scored first and rattled Rochdale who made a string of errors in key positions but rallied to post their own scores.

After the break the game continued at full pace with strong and organised defence and excellent ball handling from the Warriors. Rochdale gave away a series of penalties. Leyland took advantage but could not pull back the deficit. Emma Coulshed was best tackler.

LEYLAND cruised through to the next round with an impressive all round display. The groundwork was done in the early stages of the match as the Warriors resisted an early Blackpool barrage.

The visitors found themselves up against a defence that was in no mood for conceding points.

The match remained scoreless for the first 15 minutes until the powerful Warriors forward play finally broke through.

From that point on, Leyland took control of the match and dominated throughout. Among the try scorers was a first ever touchdown for Stephen Smith who scored with a spectacular solo effort.

Phil Campbell added the conversions.
