LOCAL patient waiting lists increased in December despite a fall in figures nationally.

Figures published this week show there were 91 more people, a rise of 4.6 per cent, waiting for treatment in December under Bury Health Care NHS Trust compared to the previous month, bringing the total up to 2,087.

There was an increase of 229 patients, 2.5 per cent, waiting for treatment under Bury and Rochdale Health Authority, bringing the total number of people up to 9,526 in December, compared to 9,297 in November.

But the number of patients waiting a year for treatment was down by 29 (14.7 per cent) to 168 in December and a 78.6 per cent fall was recorded in the 15 month waiting lists, bringing the total number down to 3, compared to 14 in November.

North Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust reported an increase of 67 patients waiting for treatment, bringing their total to 4,145 in December. Patients waiting a year for treatment increased by two (7.1 per cent) to 30 in December. There were no patients waiting 15 months for treatment.
